Prioritise promotion of blood donation: DMHO

DMHO urges service organizations to promote blood donation due to shortage, with support from fans association for upcoming donation camps.
Srikakulam District Medical and Health Officer (DMHO) B. Meenakshi on Monday asked service organisations to play a vital role in the promotion of blood donation among the people as there was a huge gap between demand and supply for blood in the district.
All India Chiranjeevi Yuvata Fans Association working President Taekwondo Srinu, New Blood Bank manager Manikantha felicitated Dr. Meenakshi on the occasion Doctors’ Day. Speaking on the occasion, she said that fans association’s could make many people to come forward and donate blood to save the lives of patients. Mr. Srinu assured to hold blood donation camps across the district on August 22 on the eve of actor Chiranjeevi’s birthday.
Governor Thaawarchand Gehlot has sought a report from the State government on a complaint that the Mysuru Urban Development Authority (MUDA) had taken up works amounting to ₹387 crore in violation of rules in Varuna and Srirangapatna Assembly constituencies, allegedly on Chief Minister Siddaramaiah’s oral instructions.
“We are organising a health research convention, which comprises a couple of workshops, community-based learning, and also cardiac care. We also included a one-day seminar on medical education, how medical education has evolved in India and the U.K., and what we can learn from each other” said Dr. Piruthivi Sukumar Dean of the International Faculty of Medicine & Health, University of Leeds during his interaction with The Hindu.
