Prime Minister issues decision to form voters' committee for Shura Council elections

HE Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Sheikh Khalid bin Khalifa bin Abdulaziz Al-Thani issued today a decision to form the voters' committee stipulated in Article 6 of the Shura Council's Electoral System law promulgated by Law No. 6 of 2021, and the system and controls for its work. The decision stipulates that the committee shall be formed of five representatives from the ministry (the Ministry of the Interior), including the chairman and his deputy, and four representatives of civil society chosen by the minister. The deputy chairman shall replace the chairman in the event of his absence or prevented from attending, and the minister shall issue a decision naming the chairman, deputy chairman and members. The secretariat of the committee shall be assumed by one or more of the ministry's employees, who shall be delegated, and their specializations and remunerations shall be determined by a decision of the minister. In accordance with the decision, the committee shall prepare, review and announce the voters' lists. In particular, it shall have the authority to: receive and examine voters' registration requests, include those who meet the conditions of the voter in the voters' lists, add the names of those whose names were found not to be included in the lists despite their fulfillment of the legally prescribed conditions for the voter, and delete the names of the deceased from the voters' lists, as well as delete the names of those who lost their voter status since the last review of the lists, as well as those whose names were entered by mistake or without right.More Related News
