Following the ceremony, the widows applied tilak to the President's forehead and wished him a long and healthy life.
Before entering the temple, the President had ensured that the widows got the same courtesy from the temple management, as shown to him and his wife.
Throughout the pooja ceremony, President Kovind appeared in a pious mood and even placed an envelope containing his offering at the feet of Lord Bankey Bihari.
Following the ceremony, the President expressed satisfaction at being able to perform the pooja with the destitute widows of Vrindavan. He also had a religious discussion with Acharya Avdhesh Badal in the temple.
The entire Vrindavan was beautifully decked up to welcome President Kovid. The President was welcomed by UP Governor Anandi Ben Patel and UP CM Yogi Adityanath at the helipad.
The Bankey Bihari Temple in Vrindavan is a go-to pilgrimage destination for Krishna devotees worldwide. Many political leaders and industrialists are seen bowing their heads before the deity almost every month.
