A winter weather travel advisory has been issued for Monday night into Tuesday morning in Waterloo region, Guelph and southern Wellington County.
Environment Canada says rain will quickly change to snow Monday afternoon as cold air moves into southern Ontario.
"The main concern will be hazardous travel conditions due to low visibility in blowing snow along with icy and slippery road conditions, rather than very large snowfall accumulations," the travel advisory says.
"Travel may be hazardous due to sudden changes in the weather."
Up to six centimetres of snow are possible late Monday and overnight in Waterloo region, Guelph and southern Wellington County.
Northern Wellington County, including Mount Forest and Arthur, is under a snow squall warning with up to 10 cm of snow possible.
Conditions are expected to improve by Tuesday morning.
Monday saw a high of 4C in the morning in Waterloo region and Guelph, but the temperature dropped throughout the day. Tuesday's high is expected to be –3 C, with a mainly cloudy day.
After that, the forecast calls for temperatures at or above zero into the weekend.
