Premier League: Everton striker Richarlison charged by FA after throwing flare into stand during Chelsea game

Brazilian forward Richarlison had thrown a flare into the stands during Everton’s match against Chelsea making it one of the most controversial moments in Premier League this season.
Everton striker Richarlison has been charged with improper conduct for his actions during the Chelsea game by the English Football Association. The incident refers to the Premier League match on May 1, where Frank Lampard’s team won the crucial three points in their race to survive in the Premier League. Relegation threatened Everton produced a fantastic performance of grit and passion, first scoring an early second half goal and then holding their lead till the final whistle.
Everton keeper Jordan Pickford produced an inspired performance to keep Everton in the game and made crucial saves in the final moments of the game. However, the headlines were grabbed by the Brazilian striker, who scored the goal and then proceeded to throw a canister of flare that was chucked into the ground. While it is not known whether Richarlison’s actions damaged anything in the stands or not, the FA have chosen to charge the player with improper conduct. Richarlison has till June 8 to respond to the charges.
Everton faced a whirlwind season in the Premier League this season, with multitudes of refereeing decisions going against them. Manager Frank Lampard blasted the decision-making process several times in the season. However, things came together late in the season when Everton were in a fight with Leeds United and Burnley for the final relegation position, and managed to pull through with 39 points from 38 games, four more than Burnley who were eventually pushed down to the second division.
