Arsenal went to the top of the Premier League table on Saturday with a 3-1 win over arch-rivals Tottenham Hotspur. Goals from Partey, Jesus and Xhaka secured all three points for the Gunners.
Goals from Thomas Partey, Gabriel Jesus and Granit Xhaka helped Arsenal secure a 3-1 win over Tottenham Hotspur to win the North London derby and go to the top of the Premier League table.
It was a tough afternoon for Spurs as Emerson Royal saw red for his tackle on Gabriel Martinelli as Antonio Conte's men fell apart in the second half.
The Gunners started the game strongly and were testing the Spurs backline from the get-go. They almost went behind in the 12th minute as Richarlison had a glorious chance in the 12th minute. However, the Brazilian forward's shot was saved by Aaron Ramsdale.
In the 19th minute, Arsenal took the lead as Thoams Partey's first time shot from outside the box nestled into the back of the net, much to the delight of the Emirates faithful.
The Gunners continued pushing for a second and were pegged back by Spurs against the run of play. Richarlison was bundled over in the box by Gabriel and the referee pointed to the spot. Harry Kane stepped up and made no mistake with the spotkick to level the game at 1-1 in the 29th minute.
The last 15 minutes of the first half saw both teams being evenly matched.
The second half kicked off in similar fashion as the first with Arsenal on the front foot. A mistake from Hugo Lloris then handed them back the lead in the 49th minute. Bukayo Saka's shot wasn't fully saved by the Spurs shotstopper and the ball ricocheted off Cristian Romero and went underneath Lloris. The ball was then tapped in by Jesus.
