PMK youth wing leader Anbumani Ramadoss on Friday urged voters to choose Chief Minister Edappadi K. Palaniswami who, according to him, is a “farmer” and not “proprietors” sitting inside air-conditioned rooms. Canvassing votes for AIADMK Minister and Arni candidate Sevoor S. Ramachandran, he said DMK leader M.K. Stalin had no connection with farming and farmers, unlike Mr. Palaniswami who can drive a tractor himself and is an approachable person. “It is my political goal to develop all backward communities,” the PMK leader said. The statement was made against the backdrop of the 10.5% internal reservation granted for Vanniyars within the MBC quota.

A whitepaper released at the event highlighted the growing importance of communication skills, the need for stronger collaboration between industry and universities, and strategies to bridge the persistent skill gap.

Under the NBS, newborns are screened for communication disorders before they are discharged from the hospital. For this, AIISH has collaborated with several hospitals to conduct screening which is performed to detect hearing impairment and other developmental disabilities that can affect speech and language development. The screening has been helping in early intervention for those identified with the disorders, as any delay in the identification poses risk and affects successful management of children with hearing loss, according to AIISH.
