The suspense over the name of the next chief minister of Goa ended on Monday evening with BJP picking Pramod Sawant for a second term, dashing the hopes of former state health minister Vishwajit Rane who was seen as the other strong contender for the role.
The decision was taken following a much-awaited legislature party meeting, 11 days after the BJP won 20 seats in the 40-member House and secured the support of two MLAs of the MGP and three Independents.
