Power consumption in the country witnessed a spike in August 2021 as it grew 18.6 per cent to touch 129 billion units (BU) as easing of lockdowns in several states led to increased economic activities. According to data released by the Ministry of Power, electricity consumption in August 2020 was 109.21 BU. The highest supply in a day was 196.24 gega watt (GW) in August 2021, which was 17.1 per cent higher compared to the corresponding period last year. In August 2020, the peak demand was 167.52 GW, lower than 177.52 GW during August 2019, thus reflecting the impact of the Coronavirus pandemic on power consumption.More Related News
