Post-poll violence: SC issues notice to Centre, Bengal govt after fresh plea

The Supreme Court has issued notice to the Centre, the West Bengal government and the Election Commission after a fresh plea was filed in connection with the post-poll violence in the state.

The Supreme Court, while hearing a plea on post-poll violence in West Bengal, directed the Centre, the state government and the Election Commission of India to submit their reply in four weeks. The Supreme Court on Thursday issued the order while hearing a plea that sought investigation by the Special Investigation Teams (SIT) into the violence that took place in West Bengal after assembly poll results were announced.
