Population control programme must go ahead without imbalance, says Yogi Adityanath
India Today
Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath said that the population control programme must go ahead successfully, but at the same time, 'population imbalance' should not be allowed to happen.
Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Monday launched the 'Population Stability Pankhwada' in Lucknow on the occasion of World Population Day. The chief minister said that the population control programme must go ahead successfully but at the same time, 'population imbalance' should not be allowed to happen.
The chief minister said, "The population of one particular section must not grow at an exponential speed. If this happens, then an awareness campaign, would be run to control the population of native residents, which would lead to an imbalance."
At present, Uttar Pradesh has a population of 24 crores which is likely to cross the 25 crore mark. This is a challenge and we need to control it, he added.
