Mani Ratnam's Ponniyin Selvan has surpassed Thalapathy Vijay's Beast in US premiere shows. The film is likely to breach records created by Kamal Haasan's Vikram soon.
Mani Ratnam's Ponniyin Selvan is just three days away from its release. The pre-release business in India and the US has kickstarted in style. According to trade analyst Ramesh Bala, Ponniyin Selvan has surpassed the pre-release sales of Thalapathy Vijay's Beast in the USA. At this rate, Ponniyin Selvan is likely to surpass the records of Kamal Haasan's Vikram.
The first part of Ponniyin Selvan, directed by Mani Ratnam, is all set to hit the theatres on September 30. The pre-release business has begun already.
Ponniyin Selvan is off to a flying start across the globe. Trade analyst Ramesh Bala suggests that Ponniyin Selvan has surpassed the pre-release sales of Thalapathy Vijay's Beast in the USA. Soon, the Mani Ratnam-directorial venture will beat Kamal Haasan's Vikram.

Directed by Mani Ratnam, Ponniyin Selvan is a historical fiction film based on the Tamil literary novel of the same name, written by Kalki Krishnamurthy. The film features Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Chiyaan Vikram, Trisha, Jayam Ravi and Karthi in lead roles. The second part of Ponniyin Selvan will release six to nine months after the release of the first part. Cinematographer Ravi Varman, composer AR Rahman and editor Sreekar Prasad form the technical crew.
