Politics around the arrest of BJP leader Shrikant Tyagi has intensified in Noida with the Tyagi community leaders teaming up against the local MP Mahesh Sharma. A BJP leader from the community had allegedly called Sharma to express his displeasure.
During the conversation, Sharma accused another local BJP leader for the situation that was being built up against him. It is understood that Sharma's statements to the police during the incident didn't go down well with the state BJP government and many local leaders also voiced against his statement.
The issue has reached the central leadership's doorsteps as Meerut MP Rajendra Aggarwal's name also popped up in the matter. The woman, who is the complainant in the Shrikant Tyagi case, is said to be a relative of Aggarwal and he had called Mahesh Sharma regarding the matter. He was called for a meeting on Tuesday evening.

"Sharma’s statement that he feels ashamed of saying that it's their government during his visit to Omaxe Grand has not gone down well with the state party leaders. The Yogi Adityanath government is known for its strong law and order across the country. Such statements have only damaged the reputation of the government and it also seems like a direct attack on the police commissioner," a senior state BJP functionary said.
"The matter could have been handled properly without a knee jerk reaction," he added.
Tyagi community leaders have accused Sharma of forcing the police to take action in the incident.
