India Today has accessed several incriminating videos which show how, when miscreants went on the rampage in Rajasthan’s Karauli district on the occasion of Nav Samvatsar, the district police remained mute spectators to the mayhem.
The footage accessed by India Today captures what transpired after the bike rally passed through Hatwada road in Karauli. The clips show miscreants wielding sticks and raising slogans of ‘Allahu Akbar’ while police made no attempt to call to order or disperse the mob.
The Rajasthan BJP has claimed that the violence was part of a premeditated conspiracy and there was a failure on the part of the Congress government to control the communal violence.
"There was a pre-planned conspiracy. How were so many stones gathered beforehand on terraces before the Shoba Yatra was to pass through the area?” Rajasthan BJP Chief Satish Poonia asked.
"There clearly was an intelligence failure on the part of the police. Did the police not have any intelligence inputs that this kind of a thing could have happened?" demanded BJP MP from Karauli Manoj Rajoria.
Karauli SP Sahilendra Singh said the situation is under control in the district and the matter is being investigated thoroughly.
"The police are taking statements from people from both sides. Whether there was any provocative sloganeering which led to the stone-pelting or if the attack was orchestrated is also within the ambit of the police investigation,” added Singh.
