A police station in West Bengal was set on fire by people protesting the death of a teenager, just days after the area witnessed massive protests over the death.
The violence broke out in Raiganj in Uttar Dinajpur district again during a BJP-organised protest to gherao the Superintendent of Police's office. Police had to fire tear gas shells and lathi charge to restore law and order in the town as they faced stone-pelting.
The ruling Trinamool Congress has blamed the BJP for inciting the violence and accused the BJP of instigating anger by claiming it was a case of rape and murder. West Bengal police had said the post-mortem noted that the death was "due to the effects of poisonous substances ingested".
On Friday morning the teenager's body was found on the banks of a pond in Kaliyaganj town of the Uttar Dinajpur district.
