Police make arrests at convoy protest in downtown Ottawa
CTV
Ottawa police made several arrests in the red zone of the "Freedom Convoy" protest in downtown Ottawa Thursday evening, hours after warning action was "imminent".
One of the "Freedom Convoy" organizers, Chris Barber, was arrested on Albert Street. CTV News cameras captured two other arrests on Wellington Street shortly after 5:30 p.m.
"He handled it like a pro," organizer Tamara Lich said of Barber's arrest.
As Lich was spotted walking around speaking with people occupying Wellington Street for a 21st day, she was asked if she accepts this is an illegal protest.
"It's not an illegal protest. It's within our Charter of Rights and Freedoms," Lich said.
