Waterloo regional police are investigating a weapons incident in Kitchener.
Waterloo regional police are investigating a weapons incident in Kitchener.
According to a social media post made at 9:35 a.m. officers were in the area of Old Carriage Drive for an investigation.
They said officers had received reports of a male walking outside with a gun.
Police said three school have been placed into hold-and-secure or lockdown as the investigation continues: Pioneer Park Public School, Doon Public School and St. Timothy Catholic Elementary School.
A social media post from the Waterloo Region District School Board reads, “Students are contained to their classrooms due to a possible or ongoing safety concern and movement within the school is limited and access restricted. Families and caregivers should not attend or contact the school.”
Residents are being asked to stay inside while police investigate.
