Johannes Francis Smolders of Strathroy, Ont., was killed on Oct. 11 after being struck by a vehicle while cycling.

Born in Eindhoven, The Netherlands, Smolders moved to Canada in 1993. According to his obituary, he was well known in the community.
"Farming was in his blood, time on the fields or advising clients about everything was something he excelled in and loved. He was well respected for his professional knowledge and common sense approach to farming and life," it reads.
Investigators are asking for the public's assistance in identifying the vehicle involved. They believe the vehicle was either a Dodge Dakota pickup truck built from 1997 to 2004, or a Dodge Durango Sports Utility Vehicle made around 1998 to 2003.
