PM Modi said he would not speak about his security lapse incident in Punjab as it could impact the investigation by the Supreme Court-mandated committee.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday said he would not speak about his security lapse incident in Punjab as it could impact the investigation by the Supreme Court-mandated committee.
Speaking to news agency ANI, PM Modi said, "I have maintained silence on the issue. The Supreme Court is looking into the matter seriously. Any statement that I make in this regard will impact the investigation, and it is not right."
"Whatever it is, the Supreme Court's Committee will bring the truth before the nation. We should wait till then," PM Modi added.
On January 5, PM Modi's convoy was stranded on a flyover in Punjab's Ferozepur for 15-20 minutes due to a blockade by farmers. The Ministry of Home Affairs called it a “major lapse in the security of PM Narendra Modi” who was in Punjab to attend some election-related events.
On January 12, the Supreme Court appointed a five-member panel headed by former apex court judge Indu Malhotra to probe the security breach incident. The panel also includes the Inspector General of the National Investigation Agency, the Director General of Police, Chandigarh, the Registrar General of the Punjab and Haryana High Court and the Additional DGP (Security) of Punjab Police.
On February 6, the five-member committee reached the incident site at Ferozepur to probe the case for the first time.
