PM Modi met the Afghan Sikh-Hindu delegation at his residence on Saturday, a day before the Punjab Assembly polls.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi met a delegation of Sikhs and Hindus from Afghanistan at his residence on Saturday.
This comes a day after PM Modi hosted a number of prominent Sikhs at his residence and highlighted the work done by his government for the community.
The meeting comes ahead of the voting for the Punjab Assembly polls scheduled to be held on Sunday.
A large number of Afghan Hindus and Sikhs have been living in India, and the Indian government recently evacuated many of them following the Taliban takeover of Afghanistan in mid-August last year.
Members of the Afghan Sikhs and Hindu delegation presented Modi with a sword along with a memento in Punjabi language.
The Indian World Forum also thanked PM Modi for hosting the Afghan-origin Hindu and Sikh community leaders at his residence and hearing their concerns and issues.
The Modi government has often asserted its commitment to the minorities of Afghanistan who have faced religious persecution, especially from the Talibans.
