The district sports officer in Saharanpur has been suspended and a probe ordered after videos surfaced showing players being served food kept in the toilet of a sports complex.
The Uttar Pradesh government suspended district sports officer in Saharanpur after reports emerged that kabaddi players were served food kept on the floor of a toilet in the sports complex.
Videos showed a large plate filled with cooked rice was initially kept on the floor of a toilet complex at a sports stadium in Saharanpur. The cooked rice was later served to around 200 players taking part in a three-day state-level U-17 girls' kabaddi tournament.
Saharanpur DM said irregularities regarding food served to players had come to light, following which district sports officer Animesh Saxena has been suspended. An investigation is underway and a report on the incident will be submitted to the government in two-three days.
