Pitta Kathalu Movie Review: An anthology that explores the dark side of love
India Today
Pitta Kathalu is Netflix’s first Telugu anthology that tells stories of four distinctly bold yet complicated women. From extramarital affairs, jealousy to darkest secrets, filmmakers have come together to explore different shades of love in an unusual way.
It’s raining anthologies down South and looks like filmmakers here are letting their creative juice flow without any restrictions and presumptions. Pitta Kathalu is Netflix’s first Telugu anthology to release amid huge expectations. Four top directors with distinct narratives have come together to produce four powerful short stories that examine and explore the messiness of human relationships, love, lust, secret desires, and more. What’s more fascinating is that all the segments are women-centric and they revolve around the challenges they face while navigating complicated relationships. Tharun Bhascker, BV Nandini Reddy, Nag Ashwin, and Sankalp Reddy have penned refreshing tales breaking stereotypes and paved the way for a new-age cinema. This anthology would have been a sure-shot winner if they would have concentrated more on making its screenplay interesting and unpredictable. Though Nag Ashwin and Sankalp Reddy’s films are unique, it’s Tharun Bhascker’s Ramula that sends chills down the spine. Not to forget, the women in these short stories are glorious. Saanve Megghana, Eesha Rebba, Lakshmi Manchu, Shruti Haasan and Amala Paul play nuanced characters who refuse to follow the rules.RamulaDirector: Tharun BhasckerCast: Lakshmi Manchu, Saanve MegghanaMore Related News
