Pipeline leak at Terminal-2 of KIA in Bengaluru

In the past too, there had been incidents of water leakage at Terminal 2. However, they were due to heavy downpour.
A water pipeline leak was reported at the swanky Terminal-2 of Kempegowda International Airport (KIA) in Bengaluru on the evening of January 1.
The Bangalore International Airport Limited (BIAL) confirmed that the leak occurred at the terminal’s Level-1. The leak affected a few back offices of airlines and ground handling agencies.
According to BIAL: “On the evening of January 1, 2025, a potable water pipeline at Terminal 2 of BLR airport experienced a leak. The issue was promptly identified and swiftly resolved. The leak affected a few back offices”.
“However, there was no impact on airport operations. While addressing the issue, BIAL’s team acted quickly and provided alternate office spaces to affected airline partners. We regret any inconvenience this isolated incident may have caused and reaffirm our commitment to the comfort and safety of all our stakeholders,” a BIAL spokesperson said.

A heavy downpour on May 2, 2023 had caused leakage in the kerbside of Terminal 2.
The 2,55,661-sq.metre T-2 was built at a cost of around ₹5,000 crore. The new terminal is located on the northeastern side of Terminal-1 and is designed by New York-based firm SOM.
