Pilgrims chanted ‘Har Har Mahadev’ as Amarnath yatra began today after a gap of two years.
Amidst the chants of Bum Bum Bhole and Har Har Mahadev, the first batch of Shri Amarnathji yatris has left for the Kashmir valley from Jammu.
The first batch of Shri Amarnath yatris was flagged off from Yatri Niwas Bhawan in Jammu by Lt Governor Manoj Sinha. More than 3000 pilgrims left for the Kashmir valley in the wee hours today. The yatra is taking place after a gap of two years. The yatra couldn't be conducted due to Covid pandemic for last 2 years. The J&K administration is expecting record number of yatris this year.

As terror threat looms large over the yatra, tight security arrangements have been made by the authorities. The yatris are being escorted by bike squad commandos of the CRPF. Strict vigil is being maintained at the India-Pakistan international border and Line of Control. Ahead of the yatra, Lashkar has issued a threat. Speaking exclusively to India Today, ADGP Jammu Zone Mukesh Singh said that a case has been registered and some arrests have also been made.
