PhD not mandatory to become Assistant Professor, says UGC

UGC has announced that Ph.D. is not mandatory for direct recruitment of Assistant Professors in departments of universities from 01.07.2021 to 01.07.2023.

The University Grants Commission (UGC) has decided not to make a Ph.D. mandatory for the post of Assistant Professors in departments of universities from 01.07.2021 to 01.07.2023.

The change has been introduced in view of the Covid-19 pandemic.
