* Around 1.6mn doses have been administered at 27 health centres * Dedicated vaccination centre at QNCC, which operated for four months earlier in the year, administered more than 650,000 doses * Eligible unvaccinated people urged to get inoculated to protect themselves, family and community The Primary Health Care Corporation (PHCC) has administered more than 2.2mn vaccine doses since the start of the National Covid-19 Vaccination Programme. On December 23, 2020, staff at Al Wajbah Health Centre administered the first Covid-19 vaccine dose in Qatar and since then PHCC’s vaccination teams have given Covid-19 vaccines across all 27 health centres as well as the dedicated vaccination centre at Qatar National Convention Centre (QNCC). “Our staff have played a central role in the delivery of the National Covid-19 Vaccination Programme, which to date has enabled more than 93% of eligible people to receive at least one vaccine dose,” said Dr Mariam Abdulmalik, managing director, PHCC. “Around 1.6mn doses have been administered across our 27 health centres located throughout Qatar, providing a safe and welcoming environment in which people can receive their vaccines close to home. Additionally, the dedicated vaccination centre at Qatar National Convention Centre, which operated for four months earlier in the year, administered more than 650,000 doses to people in priority groups, with a focus on teachers, school administration staff and key workers.” Dr Samya al-Abdulla, executive director of operations at PHCC, called on those not yet vaccinated to act now and book an appointment with PHCC to get their vaccination. “Thanks to the support of the community, the rollout of the vaccination programme has been a great success and the vast majority of the population are now protected against Covid-19. But to ensure we do not see any future increases in Covid-19 cases, it is important that as many people as possible are vaccinated. The evidence is clear that the vaccines are safe and highly effective,” said Dr al-Abdulla. “If you are not yet vaccinated, I encourage you to act now to protect yourself, your family and the community. Making an appointment at your primary health centre is easy and can be done via our mobile application, Nar’aakom; by calling 4027 7077 during working hours; or by visiting your registered health centre to make an appointment,” added Dr al-Abdulla.More Related News
