In UP's Varanasi, a petrol pump director escaped kidnapping after his staff intervened. CCTV footage showed the fiasco and police launched a search to arrest the accused.
An attempt to kidnap a Varanasi petrol station manager was foiled with the help of guards on the premises. Captured on the cameras that were installed at the fuel pump, the accused can be seen trying to kidnap the person but the endeavour was futile as the staffers intervened.
The CCTV footage depicted an argument that broke out between both sides, following which the individuals were trying to nab the alleged petrol station owner. The accused was seen signalling toward a black vehicle and as the SUV approached, they held the concerned owner of the fuel station and tried to push him into the car.
However, the accused successfully foiled the attempt as petrol station staffers rushed to stop the crime. Sources said that even bystanders intervened and rescued the person from being kidnapped.
The petrol station's director, identified as Vivekanand Singh, filed a complaint at Shivpur Police Station. It has been said the feud broke out after the miscreants, in an inebriated state, tried to enter a restaurant but Singh, who also owned the eatery, protested and stopped them. Following a clash, they tried to kidnap the petrol station director.
Uttar Pradesh Police said that a case has been registered and a search operation has been launched to nab the accused. Based on CCTV footage, the endeavour to locate and identify the accused is underway.
