On Sunday, the prices of petrol and diesel remained unbattered across major Indian cities. The oil marketing companies (OMCs) have kept fuel rates constant for more than a month now amid fluctuating crude oil prices. There has been no change in the prices of petrol and diesel after the central government cut the excise duty to bring down the retail rates from record highs.
On November 3, the government cut the excise duty on petrol and diesel by Rs 5 and Rs 10 per litre, respectively, giving a big relief to consumers. Following this, many NDA-rules states slashed the Value-Added Tax (VAT) to further give a respite to customers battered by record-high fuel prices.
