The fuel rates remain static across major Indian cities on January 7, 2022. On Friday, the state-run oil marketing companies (OMCs) revealed the prices of petrol and diesel, which haven't been changed for two months.

On November 3 last year, the government cut the excise duty on petrol and diesel by Rs 5 and Rs 10 per litre, respectively, giving a big relief to consumers. Following this, many NDA-rules states slashed the Value-Added Tax (VAT) to further give a respite to customers battered by record-high fuel prices.
