Former National Judicial Academy director urges people to become Constitution worshippers amid dangerous political phase at seminar in Kattilangadi.
Former director of the National Judicial Academy G. Mohan Gopal called upon people to turn worshippers of the Constitution, especially as the country was going through a dangerous political phase.
Delivering a keynote address at the two-day seminar on ‘Democracy and minorities: rights, resistance, representation’ organised by the Department of English at Sayyid Muhammed Ali Shihab Thangal Memorial Arts and Science Women’s College, Kattilangadi, on Monday, Prof. Gopal said one small section was influencing the government in all areas, and that people should respond against it.
Rajesh Komath, social science teacher from Mahatma Gandhi University, presided over the function. Kurukkoli Moideen, MLA, was the chief guest at the valedictory session held in the evening.
Several academicians and experts addressed various sessions held on Saturday and Monday.

The Centre has rejected reports that the definition of the Aravalli hills was changed to permit large-scale mining, citing a Supreme Court-ordered freeze on new leases. It said a court-approved framework will bring over 90% of the Aravalli region under protected areas and strengthen safeguards against illegal mining. The clarification follows controversy over the “100-metre” criterion used to define hills across states.
