The State Assembly on Monday passed a Bill to give effect to the announcements made by the erstwhile AIADMK regime last year, including the increase in monthly pension to former legislators from ₹20,000 to ₹25,000. Although the announcement was made in March last year by the AIADMK government, it had not tabled a Bill to give effect to the announcement. The Bill was introduced by Minister Duraimurugan (also holding legislature portfolio) in the House in line with the announcement made in this regard by Chief Minister M.K. Stalin earlier during this session.

A whitepaper released at the event highlighted the growing importance of communication skills, the need for stronger collaboration between industry and universities, and strategies to bridge the persistent skill gap.

For this, AIISH has collaborated with several hospitals to conduct screening which is performed to detect hearing impairment and other developmental disabilities that can affect speech and language development. The screening has been helping in early intervention for those identified with the disorders, as any delay in the identification poses risk and affects successful management of children with hearing loss, according to AIISH.
