IPL 2022, PBKS vs SRH: Sunrisers Hyderabad chased down 152 against Punjab Kings after Umran Malik's breathtaking spell on Sunday. This was SRH's fourth win on-the-trot in IPL 2022.
Sunrisers Hyderabad defeated Punjab Kings by 7 wickets at the DY Patil Stadium on Sunday to register their fourth straight victory in IPL 2022. Umran Malik was the hero of the match as the SRH pacer bowled a sensational final over to restrict PBKS to 151 in the 28th match of the season.
MALIK RATTLES PBKS
Umran Malik delivered a memorable performance with the ball in the crucial game vs Punjab Kings. The young pacer was on fire in the last over when he took three wickets, while the fourth came via runout. The over ended up being a rare wicket maiden. Malik's sensational spell came after Liam Livingstone's counter-attacking 60 off 30 balls.
But the momentum shifted heavily in favor of SRH after Bhuvneshwar Kumar provided the key breakthrough for Livingstone, with Kane Williamson taking a superb low catch in the final delivery of the penultimate over. Malik then spoiled the PBKS show as he first had Odean Smith with a slower one before castling Rahul Chahar and Vaibhav Arora in successive deliveries.
LIVINGSTONE SHOW
Liam Livingstone, who was the most expensive overseas player in this season's IPL auction with a price tag of Rs 11.50-crore, resurrected the PBKS innings after an early collapse. The England all-rounder top-scored with a magnificent 60 in a counter-attacking performance when Punjab struggled to get going at the top in the absence of regular opener and captain Mayank Agarwal. He also shared a stand of 71 with Shahrukh Khan (26) to lend some respectability to Punjab's total.
Punjab lost openers Shikhar Dhawan and Prabhsimran Singh in the power-play. Dhawan, standing in for an injured Agarwal, never looked at ease after taking a blow on his box in the opening over. The left-hander came down the pitch to pull off Kumar but found mid-on.
