Shiv Sena expels Punjab unit working president, Harish Singla, after a clash with members of some Sikh organisations during a march in Patiala on Friday.
The Shiv Sena on Friday expelled its Punjab unit's working president hours after a clash with some members of Sikh organisations in Patiala during a march against Khalistani groups.
Issuing a statement, Shiv Sena said the working president of Punjab Shivsena (Bal Thackeray), Harish Singla, had been expelled from the party. Singla had led the rally in Patiala which turned violent.
Some workers too have been suspended for their alleged role in the clash.
On Friday, two groups clashed near Kali Mata temple in Patiala, Punjab. The Shivsena (Bal Thackeray), who were carrying out a march against Khalistani groups in Patiala, clashed with members of some Sikh organisations. Stones were hurled and swords were brandished in the incident.
In some videos, a section of people can been seen brandishing swords and shouting slogans. Some are seen arguing with police personnel as the situation escalated.
Meanwhile, Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann said peace had been restored in the area.
