India Today
Chhattisgarh minister Amarjeet Bhagat hit out at the BJP and called it the 'party of impotent' as Congress leader Sonia Gandhi was questioned by the ED in the National Herald case.
Chhattisgarh Food and Civil Supplies Minister Amarjeet Bhagat called the Bharatiya Janata party (BJP) 'party of impotent' as the Enforcement Directorate (ED) questioned Congress interim president Sonia Gandhi on Thursday. The probe agency questioned Sonia Gandhi in an alleged money laundering case pertaining to the National Herald case for almost three hours today.
Amarjeet Bhagat hit out at the ruling party and said that the BJP runs away from the real issues of the country and puts forward the investigating agencies for the political vendetta.
"They do not have the courage to make the questioning public to the people. The politics is highly controversial," the Chhattisgarh minister said.
Congress had planned nationwide protests against Sonia Gandhi's questioning in the National Herald case. The minister Amarjeet Bhagat made the statement from the protest site in Raipur.
The ED questioned Sonia Gandhi for the second time after she refused to appear before the central agency earlier owing to post Covid complications.
The Chhattisgarh Congress unit also staged a protest in Raipur outside the regional ED office at Pachpedi Naka to express solidarity with Sonia Gandhi. The protest was led by Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel and Pradesh Congress Committee Mohan Markam.
