In view of inadequate rainfall and insufficient water stock in the seven dams and lakes that supply water to Mumbai, a 10 percent water cut has been announced in parts of the city from June 27.
The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC), on Friday announced 10 per cent water cut in the BMC jurisdiction area from June 27 due to insufficient rainfall and inadequate water stock in the seven dams and lakes that supply water to Mumbai Metropolitan City.
Civic officials have requested residents to cooperate and use water judiciously during this period. Notably, 3,750 million litres of water is supplied everyday to Mumbaikars.
Announcing the decision, BMC took to Twitter and wrote, "Due to insufficient rainfall and insufficient water stock in the 7 dams and lakes that supply water to Mumbai Metropolitan Area, 10% water cut will be implemented in areas under BMC jurisdiction and areas where BMC supplies water from June 27, 2022."
