A partial telecommunications outage is affecting calls between landlines and cellphones across the North.
In an email to CBC, Northwestel said it is working to determine the cause of the disruption and fix it.
"While they continue their work, we are unable to provide a definite time that this will be resolved," a Northwestel spokesperson wrote.
Telecommunications in the Yukon, Northwest Territories, Nunavut and parts of northern B.C. and northern Alberta area affected.
A notice from the City of Yellowknife says cell-to-cell and landline-to-landline calls are not affected.
In an emergency, people are still advised to call 911 from both a cellphone and a landline, because the call may go through.
If neither work, phone local emergency numbers or go directly to the nearest hospital, police station or emergency vehicle.
Northwestel said updates will be posted to its Facebook page.
