The state government has been asked to provide full protection to the victim’s family and witnesses in the case.
The court pulled up the state police for glaring lapses in their investigation of the case so far and said, “We find that the investigation suffers from serious lapses in several important aspects. We cannot lose sight of the fact that the accused is the son of a powerful leader of the ruling party and that there is material available in the case diary indicating that the family members of the victim have been threatened.”
