Para-athlete Jeevanji Deepthi to receive Governor’s Award for Excellence

Para-athlete, environmental activist, and cultural figures honored with Governor's Award for Excellence during Republic Day celebrations.
Para-athlete and Arjuna awardee Jeevanji Deepthi, environmental activist Dusharla Sathyanarayana, Arikapudi Raghu in the field of Divyanjan welfare, and P.B.Krishna Bharathi and M. Pandu Ranga Rao, jointly in the field of culture, will receive the Governor’s Award for Excellence this year.
The awards will be presented by Governor Jishnu Dev Varma during the 76th Republic Day celebrations on Sunday.
Names of the awardees were announced by jury chairman and retired bureaucrat M. Padmanabhaiah, and Principal Secretary M. Dana Kishore at Raj Bhavan on Monday.
The Governor’s Award for Excellence, an initiative to recognise outstanding contributions in the fields of environment protection, Divyangjan (persons with disability) welfare, sports and games, and culture, are instituted for the first time by Raj Bhavan.
The awards under the same categories for organisations are: Dhruvansh NGO for environment protection, L.V. Prasad Eye Institute (Divyangjan welfare), Aditya Mehta Foundation (sports and games), and Samskruti Foundation (culture). Five of the total eight awards went to Hyderabad-based individuals and organisations.
