In an exclusive conversation with IndiaToday.in, Pankaj Tripathi opened up on the ongoing cancel culture of Bollywood. Currently, Aamir Khan's Laal Singh Chaddha is facing a call for boycott.
Trouble has mounted for Laal Singh Chaddha makers as the boycott trend continues even after the film's release on August 11. The Aamir Khan-starrer has been a victim of the ongoing cancel culture trend ever since its trailer release. In the latest, members of the Hindu outfit Sanatan Rakshak Sena staged protests in Uttar Pradesh as well. Not only this, even Akshay Kumar's Raksha Bandhan faced a call for boycott. Amid this, Pankaj Tripathi talked to IndiaToday.in exclusively and shared his views on the ongoing cancel culture of Bollywood.
Pankaj Tripathi weighed in on both the sides - the audience as well as the films. He told IndiaToday.in, "Democracy me sabko apni baat rakhne ka adhikaar hai (In a democratic world, everyone has the right to voice their opinion). But at the same time, films are a big medium that generate revenue to the government. This revenue is then used for the betterment of the society. Lekin, sehemati ho ya nahi, (however, if you are satisfied or not), this is each one's individual right."
Some members of the Hindu outfit Sanatan Rakshak Sena staged protests in Uttar Pradesh and stated that they were adamant on calling for an absolute ban on Laal Singh Chaddha. The protest came to the fore after the members alleged Aamir Khan of mocking and making fun of Hindu deities. The outfit's members raised slogans against the Advait Chauhan directorial while accusing the actor of hurting their religious sentiments. The demonstration was carried out outside IP Vijaya mall in UP's Bhelupur.
Meanwhile, Pankaj Tripathi will be seen next in Criminal Justice 3.
