A video of a man creating commotion on the streets of Pakistan’s Karachi regarding a QR code on a 7Up bottle has gone viral on social media. Podcaster Imran Noshad Khan posted a short clip on Twitter in which the man said that he spotted an inscription of Prophet Muhammad’s name on the QR code of the soft-drink bottle, distributed under the Pepsi brand. Lack of awareness. I spotted this Ashiq e Rasool he was threatening this poor truck driver on University Road and the Mob was gathering and threatening to burn the truck. The truck belongs to a well known Beverage brand I tried to explain to him that this is a QR code 1/2 pic.twitter.com/RnLS71Bf3M but later I realized that is a mob and the guy was very aggressive, they can do anything. With difficulty, I seated the driver and made him to leave safely. 2/2 When the truck driver left and I was also about to leave, he screamed and said to me that I belong to jamat-ud-Dawa, and I have also fought in Kashmir, my reach is to upper level then he remind me of “Hazar Hazar key note” He said i can do anything. People are thanking me for saving the life of the truck driver from the mob of religious fanatics, I don't want to take credit for that because no human being has the right to kill another human being. This truck driver has the absolute right to live.1/2 Today I gotta a mesaage of thanks from the concern Beverage co. One of their representative said we are trying to finish the current stock or change the QRcode. However no action taken by @SindhGovt1 I guess its not the state’s priority anymore to counter religious extremism.2/2
The man, who identified himself as Mullah, was furious as he fought with the driver of the Pepsi truck on the street over the QR code of the 7Up bottle. Upon being asked, he said while showing the QR code, “Bhaijaan, yeh dekhein, isme Muhammad ka naam likha hua hai (Please see this, Muhammad’s name is written on it).”
