PAK vs ENG, 4th T20I: Babar Azam needs only 97 runs to become the first Pakistani batter to score 3000 runs in T20Is. The fourth match of the series will take place on Sunday.
Babar Azam is on the threshold of breaking another record in international cricket. The Pakistan skipper needs only 97 runs to become the fifth batter with 3000 runs in T20Is after Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, Martin Guptill and Paul Stirling.
Moreover, if the 27-year-old Babar gets those runs in his next two innings, he will become the fastest batter to reach the 3000-run landmark in T20Is.
Currently, former Indian skipper Kohli holds the record after achieving the milestone in 81 innings. The 33-year-old right-handed batter achieved the feat during India’s bilateral T20I series against England last year.
Babar currently holds the record for the fastest to 2000 T20I runs along with teammate Mohammad Rizwan. Both Babar and Rizwan got to the milestone in 52 innings.
The Lahore-born Babar is set to play in the fourth T20I of the seven-match series on Sunday, September 25 at National Stadium in Karachi.
Babar started the series by scoring 31 runs in a losing cause. Thereafter, he chipped in with an unbeaten 66-ball knock of 110 in the second T20I to help Pakistan draw level in the series.
