Two people were busted in Nipissing First Nation trying to use fake money to buy machinery, Anishinabek Police Service says.
Two people were busted in Nipissing First Nation trying to use fake money to buy machinery, Anishinabek Police Service says.
"APS officers intercepted a money scam in progress after the complainant called police to report suspicious individuals attempting to purchase machinery he had for sale," police said in a social media post.
Two men, ages 40 and 45, were arrested and police seized $6,385 in cash, five cell phones, a laptop, several SIM cards, 4.7 pounds of an unidentified drug suspected to be cocaine, 10 grams of heroin, four fake credit cards and fake permanent resident cards.
They are charged with making, possessing and uttering counterfeit money, attempted fraud, possessing instruments used for counterfeiting and property obtained by crime, as well as drug trafficking.
"Remember, if you see it, report it," police said.
