Paddhathi music festival begins in Chennai

Honourees at Paddhathi Music Fest 2024-25 receive prestigious titles, celebrating Carnatic music excellence and cultural contributions.
Three persons were honoured at the inauguration of the Paddhathi Music Fest 2024-25 organised by Carnatica and Sri Parthasarathy Swami Sabha here on Monday.
Carnatic musician Alleppey Venkatesan was conferred the title ‘Sampradaya Sangeetha Vedika’. While Namasankeerthanam exponent Udayalur Kalyanaraman was presented with the title ‘Bhagavatha Shreshta’, R. Sekar, secretary of Kartik Fine Arts was felicitated with the title ‘Bharat Kala Sanskriti Poshaka’.
Nalli Kuppuswami Chetti, industrialist and president of Sri Parthasarathy Swami Sabha said, “Carnatic music is a treasure of our country and for several generations now, the concerts have been continuing in the city.”
Krishnamoorthy, secretary of Sri Parthasarathy Swami Sabha said that this festival had been taking place every year and this time there would be nearly 300 concerts in five venues for 17 days with about 1,000 musicians.
Violinist Nagai R. Muralidharan said, Mr. Venkatesan continues to carry forward the rich legacy of his guru Ariyakudi Ramanuja Iyengar. Mr. Kalyaraman who draws a lot of people to Namasankeerthanams does a great service helping out several bhagawathars. Mr. Sekar has been managing the Kartik Fine Arts exceedingly well and encouraging many youth.
K. N. Shashikiran, managing trustee, Carnatica, musician Revathi Subramanian andMr. Venkatesan were among those who spoke at the event.
