Prince County in western P.E.I. was placed under a rainfall warning Tuesday afternoon, with 30 more mm of rain expected before it tapers off overnight.
Environment Canada issued the warning at 3:21 p.m. AT Tuesday.
Heavy rain had been falling in West Prince for much of the day, CBC P.E.I. meteorologist Jay Scotland said, with an unofficial recording of 74 millimetres for Traveller's Rest by 4:30 p.m.
"Local flooding is possible as well as water pooling on roads," said Scotland.
The forecast included a risk of isolated thunder showers across P.E.I. early Tuesday evening.
After an extremely dry month of May, P.E.I. has seen some steady rainfall since Sunday.
The sky should clear overnight into Wednesday, said Scotland, but fog patches are possible Wednesday morning ahead of a mostly sunny and muggy day.
The temperature could reach 26 C, feeling about 30 with the humidex.
