A 39-year-old man from Cornwall, P.E.I., has been charged in connection with an investigation into child pornography, RCMP said in a news release Friday morning.
The arrest came Thursday as police executed a search warrant at a residence in Cornwall as part of the ongoing investigation.
The man was arrested at the scene. Police seized electronic devices from the home, the news release said.
"Offences involving children are upsetting and shocking for victims, family, and our communities," said Chief Superintendent Kevin Lewis, commanding officer for P.E.I. RCMP.
"Your Island police agencies are committed to combating child exploitation and I want to encourage anyone who may have experienced exploitation, abuse, or violence in any form, to come forward to police."
The news release did not specify what charges were laid. The man was released from custody on strict conditions pending a future court appearance.
The investigation, which began in June, was led by P.E.I. RCMP's internet child exploitation unit and was supported by its general investigation section.
