P.E.I. heat warnings extended, and big rain possible
CBC
It's going to be another hot one.
Environment Canada has revised its forecast for Wednesday, pushing the daytime high to 28 C. That puts all three counties in heat warning territory: a forecast high of 28 C and an overnight low that doesn't drop lower than 18 C.
Tuesday night's low was 19 C, and the forecast for Wednesday night is also 19 C.
Temperatures have been in heat warning territory since Monday.
During the heat wave Islanders should take care to drink lots of water, and avoid vigorous outdoor activity.
Environment Canada has also issued a special weather statement concerning rain on Thursday and Friday.
The forecast Wednesday morning is calling for just 10 to 15 millimetres of rain Thursday, but Environment Canada is describing the weather system as slow moving and somewhat disorganized.
"While the rain could be intermittent through this period, complicating matters is that tropical moisture from the remnants of Beryl is expected to feed into this system," the weather statement says.
"This could potentially enhance rainfall amounts and increase the risk of heavy rainfall rates."
Rainfall warnings could be issued as the system moves closer, says Environment Canada.
Temperatures will cool Thursday, with a daytime high of 20 C.
