Oxygen shortage, drivers down with Covid: Ambulance operators in Delhi-NCR in a fix
India Today
Ambulance service providers are facing a crisis in Delhi-NCR as several drivers test positive for Covid-19 and due to shortage of oxygen.
Running out of oxygen and staff drivers, the ambulance service providers across Delhi-NCR are in a fix now. As many as 30 drivers of Sadbhavana ambulance services, a non-profit organisation, are down with Covid. Three of their Delhi staff drivers also died after contracting the virus. There's no new driver as of now. Anil Singh, founder of Sadbhavana ambulance services said, "The situation is very grim. Almost 90 per cent of our drivers are Covid positive, three of them died due to lack of beds and oxygen in Delhi. Out of nine, only two ambulances are working in Delhi as no new drivers are turning up. We have lost good men who were dedicated to their job and worked almost day and night. It's hard to find men like those." The remaining drivers are waiting hours outside oxygen refilling centres to get the remaining ambulances working since the demand for oxygen support ambulances are high.More Related News
