Owaisi wants to become Jinnah: BJP hits out at AIMIM chief over Gyanvapi mosque comment
India Today
BJP leader Harnath Singh Yadav called for the arrest of AIMIM chief Asaduddin Owaisi over his remarks on Gyanvapi mosque in Varanasi. Yadav accused Owaisi of wanting to create a rift between Hindus and Muslims in the country.
Asaduddin Owaisi is dreaming of becoming the next Jinnah, said Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MP Harnath Singh Yadav, calling for the arrest of All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) chief over remarks on Gyanvapi mosque in Varanasi.
Yadav said, “Owaisi wants to create a rift between Hindus and Muslims in the country and he is dreaming of becoming Jinnah. So a case of sedition should be registered against him and he should be put in jail immediately.”
The remarks came after Owaisi on Saturday said the BJP and Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) are trying to rekindle the era of hatred like the one in the 1990s. He was referring to the row over the survey of Gyanvapi mosque.

A survey is being done on the Varanasi district court’s order following a plea by Delhi-based women Rakhi Singh, Laxmi Devi, Sita Sahu and others seeking permission to worship Hindu deities whose idols are located on the outer wall of the Gyanvapi Masjid.
Traces of two swastikas were seen near the Gyanvapi Masjid in the Gyanvapi-Shringar Gauri complex during the survey and a videography exercise is being carried out.
“What is the fear in the survey of Gyanvapi mosque? Which is the truth that he [Owaisi] does not want to be exposed through the survey?” the BJP MP asked.
