Over 2.4 lakh new Covid cases, 3,741 deaths in 24 hours

More than 2.40 lakh new coronavirus cases and 3,741 deaths were reported in the country in the last 24 hours.

India on Sunday morning registered 2,40,842 (2.40 lakh) fresh coronavirus cases and 3,741 fatalities, taking the country’s total tally of virus cases to 2,65,30,132, according to the data released by the health ministry. India’s active Covid-19 caseload now stands at 28,05,399, which is 10.57 per cent of the total infections. The top five states that have contributed the most to the Covid cases reported in the past 24 hours are Tamil Nadu with 35,873 cases, followed by Karnataka (31,183 cases), Kerala (28,514 cases), Maharashtra (26,133 cases) and Andhra Pradesh (19,981 cases).
