Telangana STF seizes 12.78 kg of ganja, arrests five in coordinated raids; 83 kg worth ₹41.50 lakh incinerated.
In a series of coordinated raids, State Task Force (STF) teams under the Telangana Excise and Prohibition Department seized a total of 12.78 kg of ganja valued at ₹6.5 lakh. Five persons involved in ganja trade were arrested.
Acting on intelligence inputs, officials conducted a raid near the PVR Cinema complex in Moosarambagh, arresting two persons in the midst of a ganja sale involving approximately 9 kilograms of the contraband. The officials said that Sheikh Saheb Khan sourced the contraband from Araku and was selling it to Mohammed Ali, suspected to be a local distributor at the time of the arrest. The ganja and the accused were handed over to the Malakpet Excise station for further investigation.
In a separate operation, Chukka Anand Babu, a resident of Bapatla in Guntur district, was caught while he was selling ganja in Ameerpet. The seized narcotics and the accused were handed over to the Ameerpet Excise station.
In another case, K. Sai Praveen and Adil Pasha were arrested with 1.06 kg and 1.11 kg of ganja in Serilingampally. Investigation revealed that they sourced the contraband from Maharashtra and were operating distribution networks within Hyderabad. Investigations are underway to identify other members involved in these illicit networks.
In a parallel development, a total of 83 kg of ganja worth ₹41.50 lakh seized by five Excise stations in Khammam was incinerated at Gopalapeta village in Tallada mandal. The contraband had been confiscated in 32 cases registered across five excise stations including Khammam, Khammam 2, Sattupalli, Madhira, and Nelakondapalli—and the disposal was authorised by the State government.
